Target Profiling

One place where Enter Shikari's tour and other band activities are publicised is the magazine Kerrang! Their readers and subscribers tend to be between the ages of 15 and 24, divided into 60% male and 40% female. On average these readers buy 31 albums a year and tend to have a very strong brand loyalty. This could be an why the London show for Enter Shikari's latest tour sold out within a few days.

The first bit of profiling I've managed to find for Crufts is in an article on the Independant. This is more of a satirical article which meets the common conception of what I would personally think the entrants of crufts would look like. Each entrant "has thin legs, barrel-shaped trunks, and floral swimming-cap hairdos. They favour suits and skirt-sets, all of which seem to be rounded off by American Tan tights and bright, white trainers." This makes the entrants seem predominantly women (for this round anyway), and over 50.

Doing some KMR research I've found a bit more profiling for dog owners. It's pretty even with the male to female ownership ratio. Typically, people owning three or more dogs tend to be on the A social grade, showing they have a bit more money to pamper their dogs. Furthermore, they tend to have completed high school education but there is a massive decrease in the amount of dog owners (3+) that have a degree or higher qualifications; there's also a tendency to have children in the house, therefore family pets. People aged 45-54 tend to have the most representation of owning two dogs and are wide spread among the income brackets. There is also a very high representation for these people owning two or more dogs to be disabled or have a long term illness. This may represent their age as well.

Mackesy, S. (1997). Crufts should have a few people classes to relieve the serious job of judging the canines: skinny girls with curly perms, fierce women in brogues.... Available: http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/crufts-should-have-a-few-people-classes-to-relieve-the-serious-job-of-judging-the-canines-skinny-girls-with-curly-perms-fierce-women-in-brogues-1271759.html.
